Alliance unveils new video of Upper Brook Street Masterplan

Written by Property Alliance Group | Mar 13, 2024

Alliance’s CEO, Alex Russell took to the stage at MIPIM to unveil striking new footage of our £550m GDV masterplan for Upper Brook Street:

In January, the mixed-use regeneration scheme in Ardwick, Manchester, received planning permission for 328,000 sq ft of life science buildings in the heart of the city’s Knowledge Quarter (Oxford Road Corridor). The scheme also offers 983 high-end student accommodation units (PBSA), with 220 affordable ones, in partnership with Moda.

This scheme is set to be the catalyst that transforms the neighbourhood, linking Ardwick more closely with the city centre and enhancing the area with high-quality amenities and public services around two new squares over three acres. The video showcases a flyover of the district and our development in situ, highlighting the exciting opportunity of the scheme set within the Upper Brook Street area and the Oxford Road Corridor.

The SRF identified this site early on for life science-led development, given its strategic location next to institutions like The University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University. Ensuring that The Upper Brook Street collaboration delivers a cutting edge campus supporting and building on a community which includes City Labs, Manchester Science Park, The Christabel Pankhurst Institute, Turing Institute, Henry Royce Institute, National Graphene Institute, Circle Square and more.

Our design team is focused on developing the Upper Brook Street masterplan to craft a community-centred space suited for future needs. The project is expected to generate 1,222 direct and indirect jobs in the life sciences and PBSA sectors, and 4,720 full-time construction jobs over the 7.5-year build period, contributing £45.7m annually to the GVA.

As Alliance forges ahead with the Upper Brook Street Masterplan, we remain committed to creating a transformative space that fosters community, innovation, and economic growth. By integrating high-quality residential, educational, and scientific elements, we are helping to shape the future of Manchester.
