AXIS in the running for two top titles

AXIS has been named a finalist in two categories at the Northwest Construction Industry Awards.

Our 28-storey residential scheme, which is one of Manchester’s most complex builds, is in the running to win the Innovation Award and be named Sub Regional Project of the Year (Manchester).

A complex feat of engineering, AXIS is an iconic development that has defied those who said it could not be built.  Comprising 172 luxury apartments, it has been constructed on a tiny triangular site totalling just 761 sq m on the bank of the Rochdale Canal. With its 30m media screen and striking bronze façade, AXIS now one of the most recognisable buildings in the city.

Internally, apartments offer one, two or three bedrooms with a variety of en-suite and family bathroom configurations as well as an open-plan galley kitchen/living room. At the top of the building is Manchester’s largest lateral penthouse.

Resident comfort is a priority, and that’s reflected in the scheme’s clever design which maximises the use of space in each apartment. This is complemented by extensive, large-format glazing providing uninterrupted 360 ° views across the city, out to the peaks, the quays and beyond.

Victoria Russell, director at Property Alliance Group, said: “Well done to all our delivery team – Russell WBHO, Jon Matthews architects & WSP for this outstanding achievement. We would also like to give a big congratulations to Russell WBHO for being shortlisted for Contractor of the Year.”

The North West Regional Construction Awards are the most significant celebration of best practice and best value in the region. The virtual awards ceremony will take place online on 26 November 2020.
