International pet food company relocates to Trident

Pet food company, MPM Products, has agreed a 10-year lease at Trident at Manchester Airport.

The company, which has offices in the UK, Australia and the US, is relocating from its Macclesfield head base, taking 10,700 sq ft in the 88,000 sq ft Trident office scheme, which is owned by Property Alliance Group.

Julian Bambridge, CEO from MPM Products said: “Our business has continued to expand rapidly so we needed a new HQ offering a high-quality space that could accommodate our growing team. Given our significant international footprint, being so close to the airport is another major benefit for us.”

Alliance acquired Trident with JV partner ARES in January 2015 and invested £7.5m in a speculative Grade A refurbishment, including a new 5,000 sq ft glass entrance which connects the three buildings that make up the scheme. Tenants are offered a front-of-house concierge team, coffee lounge, co-working space and free shuttle bus to the airport and Metrolink. Externally there is also a new gym, shower, changing and bike storage facility.

Rob Peill, Head of Offices at Alliance said: “This deal with MPM Products leaves just 3,000 sq ft remaining at Trident. The rest of the space has all been let within just 18 months reflecting the broad appeal of this scheme. Like many of our other tenants, MPM was attracted to Trident because of its excellent transport links, the standard of the office accommodation and raft of onsite facilities.”

In 2016, MPM Products sold a majority stake to private equity firm ECI Partners to accelerate international expansion. Its core products ranges include Applaws and Encore, which are available in UK supermarkets, including Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Waitrose and Ocado.

OBI acted for MPM Products. CBRE and Williams Commercial act for Alliance.
