MAPPING OUT MIPIM
One of the property industry’s biggest conferences, MIPIM, is coming up this month. Manchester has always committed a big presence at the four-day international event, with the council, developers and property professionals descending on the central conference to network, knowledge share and collaborate.
For Property Alliance Group, the benefits of attending the annual event are invaluable. Our presence each year takes a different form, whether it’s to understand the interests of UK inward investors, maximising the opportunity to meet London-based and global funders, or to learn about new international trends and market demands. Our ultimate motivator, however, is to help promote Manchester and keep the city at the forefront of investors’ minds.
The timing this year has fallen particularly well for Alliance to launch not one but two major schemes being brought forward in Manchester.
So, what will we be telling everyone about at MIPIM?
Upper Brook Street Masterplan
At MIPIM, our CEO, Alex Russell, will showcase the £550m GDV masterplan for Upper Brook Street, detailing the benefits of the offering for the community, stakeholders and prospective investors. A new fly-through video will be launched at MIPIM, providing a more in-depth vision of the scheme, which we are very excited to reveal.
In the last month the mixed-use regeneration scheme in Ardwick, Manchester was granted planning permission for 328,000 sq ft of life science buildings in the heart of the city’s Knowledge Quarter (Oxford Road Corridor), adjacent to the two universities. As well as life sciences office and lab provision, the scheme includes 983 high-end student bed accommodation units (PBSA), of which 220 will be affordable, being delivered in partnership with Moda. The entire scheme will create a new transformative neighbourhood, better connecting Ardwick to the city centre, and bringing high quality amenities and public services to the community around two new public squares.
Renaissance, Deansgate
Last year, we were given the green light for the two further elements of our £210m GDV redevelopment of the former Renaissance hotel site on Deansgate. Alongside the brand new 4* Treehouse Hotel due to open this summer, the mixed-use scheme also includes Grade A offices and 300 high-end residential apartments.
The Alliance team will be on hand to discuss the exciting opportunity with occupiers and investors, bringing forward a vibrant destination for the city’s residents and visitors.
What will Alliance be doing at MIPIM?
Alex Russell has been invited as a guest panellist discussing curating Manchester city for growth. The session will open with the short film showing the Upper Brook Street masterplan, which was produced with our partners.
Rebecca Heron, strategic director growth and development at Manchester City Council, is also on the panel, and will outline how the Strategic Regeneration Framework evolved and why, talking through the history of SRF in the city but with specific reference to Upper Brook Street.
Joining Alex, Will Fogden of Kadans, will discuss the journey to planning committee so far, working closely with key stakeholders throughout the consultation and planning application process.
The panel event is taking place on:
Wednesday 13th March
3.30pm to 4.15pm
Manchester stand (C15B)
