Piccadilly Place plays host to Christmas classic and fundraiser
Piccadilly Place has played host to a free festive screening of Home Alone that also helped raise vital funds for the ‘A Bed Every Night’ campaign, which offers a bed and hot meal for people on the streets in Greater Manchester.
Guests watched the film under the stars on giant beanbags and were offered the chance to buy cosy blankets with all proceeds going to the homeless charity.
The Christmas classic, which follows the story of eight-year-old Kevin McCallister who is accidentally left at home when his entire family go to Paris, was shown in the piazza area of Property Alliance Group’s mixed-use development, adjacent to Piccadilly train station.
Victoria Russell, Director of Strategy & Partnerships at Alliance said: “Following our significant investment in Piccadilly Place, which has created the Manchester lamps and secured new tenancies in all the ground floor space, the piazza area is thriving.
“The space was ideal for this free event, which helped to bring local residents and visitors together for a festive evening that also provided crucial support for the ‘A Bed Every Night’ scheme at a time when temperatures are rapidly dropping in the city centre.”
The event followed the arrival of the piazza’s impressive Christmas tree and Piccadilly Place tenants were also on hand to make sure guests were kept fed and watered, including independent eatery, Fundamentum, and Black Sheep Coffee.
