One Cathedral Square GRANTED planning AT RENAISSANCE

Together with Starwood Capital, we have been granted planning permission for a new residential scheme, becoming the latest phase of our £210m (GDV) mixed-use redevelopment of the Renaissance site on Deansgate, Manchester. 

Manchester City Council has approved detailed plans for a luxury 300-home apartment building, One Cathedral Square, that will sit adjacent to a new 50,000 sq ft office building and the 4+ Treehouse Hotel fronting Deansgate. 

The 27-storey residential building, designed by Jon Matthews Architects, will provide an exclusive selection of one, two and three-bedroom apartments, including four penthouse apartments, all offering views across the city. Provisions will allow for 32 resident car parking spaces and 100% cycle parking. 

Residents will benefit from first-class service and amenities within the building, including cinema room, gymnasium and lounge, as well as extensive outdoor riverside and private gardens and a communal roof terrace.

The wider masterplan being brought forward by our JV, will complete the redevelopment of the city district affected by the 1996 IRA bomb attack, transforming the streetscape by linking the Cathedral, AO Arena and Manchester’s main shopping area. 

Works are due to commence on this third phase later this year, whilst the office scheme which was granted planning in January 2023, has now commenced on site.

Avison Young were planning consultants for One Cathedral Square, and both JLL and Alliance Investments have been selected as agents for the apartments.
