Upper Brook Street wins Future Ambition award
Our Upper Brook Street Masterplan was announced as the winner of Insider’s inaugural Greater Manchester Future Ambition Award at a special event at the Midland Hotel.
Upper Brook Street was shortlisted alongside four other projects which have the power to transform Greater Manchester’s economy and position the city region for future growth. Each of the shortlisted projects was selected for their potential to transform Greater Manchester’s landscape.
Representatives from each of the projects outlined their vision at the event, with the audience in the room voting on the scheme which impressed them most in terms of scope, deliverability and ambition.
Alliance’s CEO, Alex Russell alongside Victoria Russell, Director of Brand, Strategy and Partnerships presented Upper Brook Street, showcasing the project’s power to act as the catalyst to fuel growth and transform Greater Manchester’s economy.
Together with Kadans Science Partners, Moda, and McLaren, Property Alliance Group is addressing some of the most pressing challenges facing our city today: the immediate shortage of advanced life science space.
This masterplan is a catalyst for the evolution of an innovative neighbourhood, maximising the site’s potential through its ready-made mecca of talent and strategic location to bring forward a city life science opportunity for Manchester, not seen anywhere else in the UK.
After working closely with our architects, the city and key stakeholders, the final design consists of four life science buildings delivering 479,000 sq ft of the highest specification lab and write up space to accommodate anything from small start ups straight out of university right up to single let buildings for national and international companies.
The 4 PBSA buildings will deliver 1,720 units to help satisfy the increasing demand put on the city as a result of having the two most applied to universities in the country. This includes 220 units of affordable student accommodation.
Speaking to Insider after the event, Alex Russell, CEO, Property Alliance Group, said that the scheme was “delivering much needed life science accommodation; we’ve not got enough supply in the region and it’s about time we caught up with the Golden Triangle.”
Victoria Russell, director of brand, strategy and partnerships, Property Alliance Group added: “It’s a really exciting opportunity to build on what’s already there in the Oxford Road Corridor”.
Upper Brook Street's recognition as the winner of the Future Ambition Award highlights the immense transformative potential this £450 million development holds for Greater Manchester. By delivering vital new life sciences facilities and student housing, while enhancing public spaces and connectivity, the project is poised to be a true catalyst for growth in the region.
