Will Clarke sets fundraising pace with RMHC Bike Ride

Ronald McDonald House Charities has always been a charity close to our hearts and one we have now supported for over a decade.  Keeping families together in the most challenging times has always resonated with us.

The houses provide families with a room, free of charge, which is only 50 steps away from their child who is critically ill in hospital, often for an extended period. Having this space gives parents a much-needed rest bite which is essential to support their own well-being, as well as giving them an opportunity to get some sleep and space to make food and maintain a routine for siblings too.

Later this month, our Project Director, Will Clarke is raising vital funds for Ronald McDonald House who provided invaluable care and support to Will’s cousin, Louise and her husband Joe when their daughter Eilidh was diagnosed with the incurable mitochondrial disease.

Eilidh was transferred from Edinburgh to Kings College Hospital in London, which is 400 miles from their home in Fife. Ronald McDonald House provided accommodation to Louise and Joe during their time in London, so that they could spend every minute with their daughter Eilidh.

Will and his family will be cycling the “Scottish Coast to Coast”, from Annan in the south-west to St Andrews on the east coast. The ride will cover 173 miles and climb over 2,170m over 3 days.
