Alliance tipped for two top titles

Property Alliance Group is in the running to win two coveted awards at the Insider North West Business Residential Property Awards 2020.

The property development and investment company has been named a finalist in categories, including Apartment Development of the Year (more than 100 homes) and Bespoke and Urban Developer of the Year.

The nominations follow the construction of Axis, a 28-storey apartment scheme that has brought 170 new homes to Manchester, including the city’s largest lateral penthouse. A complex feat of engineering, the development stands on a constrained 761 sq metre wedge-shaped footprint on the bank of the Rochdale Canal at the eastern end of Deansgate Locks, between Manchester Central and First Street.

Designed by Jon Matthews Architects, Axis forms part of Alliance’s expanding residential portfolio, which comprises 900 new homes ranging from one, two and three-bedroom apartments through to family townhouses and student accommodation. Other city centre developments include Manhattan, a seven-storey development comprising 42 one, two and three-bedroom apartments in Chinatown which will welcome its first residents in the New Year, and Oxygen, a high-specification, £100m residential scheme comprising 358 luxury apartments and 12 family townhouses which is currently under construction.

Despite the challenges of the highly restricted site, we have remained committed to delivering the development with Russells Construction, so to see it now standing proud at the city’s gateway is a huge achievement for all those involved.”

In 2019, Alliance has brought forward schemes with a gross development value (GDV) of just under £400m. As well as delivering new homes, the company is building two hotel schemes in Manchester city centre. These include a 17-storey, 329-bed hotel in Portland Street with the pre-let investment acquired by Aviva Investors. The facility will be operated by Dalata Hotel Group under its four-star Clayton Hotel brand and will create around 140 jobs.

Located in 3 St Peter’s Square, the second hotel spans 20 storeys and is on track for completion in 2022. Motel One will occupy the first eight floors with 328 hotel rooms and Staycity Aparthotels is taking floors 9 to 20, providing 256 studios and one- bedroom units under its premium ‘Wilde Aparthotels’ brand.
